James Whale is remembered as the creator of the classic horror films Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. He brought his intelligent and stylish touch to a wide variety of other wonderful pictures, including the superb original screen version of Showboat, The Man in the Iron Mask, The Invisible Man, and The Old Dark House. His Hollywood career was cut short and he retired in the 1940s. Gods and Monsters explores his later life and the circumstances of his mysterious death.
